REBIRTH
OF
IDEAS
A reflection on what it means to be human
The Rebirth of Ideas collection is my interpretation of life as a cycle. During my freshman year in college, I started my research on Eastern philosophies, and I was fascinated by their cyclical vision of life.
Birth
Experiences
Death
Throughout the years, I realized that many eastern sewing and construction techniques had that cyclical mindset as well. The Japanese people, for example, were able to create beautiful and unique pieces with the materials they had available around them.

TEXTILE AND PRINT DEVELOPMENT
Solid colors - deadstock denim from Rag & Bone or vintage garments
Prints - original prints on 100% cotton canvas
My understanding of sustainability goes hand in hand with the cycle of life. There is a way to utilize what we have available around us, allowing them a rebirth, without compromising design.
The aim of the patchwork was to be playful.
Misplace parts of vintage garments to create
new design possibilities.

Work by Michelangelo Pistoletto
During my research, I came across the work of Italian installation artist, Pistoletto, and I realized that his work was exactly what I wanted to convey with this collection. It's bringing all these 'meaningless' garments - which once were important - to a rebirth. I wanted my collection to have a human essence, simple yet purposeful. The imperfections are what makes something 'human',
and that is the most perfect way to celebrate life.
